 Halloween Pulldown is a two-part event; an on-sight lead competition and a redpoint top rope competition.

On-sight Lead:

We begin in the morning with our on-sight lead competition. Competitors in the Advanced (5.9 – 5.11) or Open (5.11+) divisions will be kept in isolation before climbing their preliminary routes. Each climber will have 5 min to climb each of their 3 preliminary routes. Points are based on the highest controlled hold and the last draw clipped before falling. The top six competitors will qualify for the finals that evening. Finals will be a single route per division with progressive difficulty.

Redpoint Top Rope:

In the afternoon we will hold our top rope competition. This is an easygoing and family-friendly event! Costumes are highly encouraged and we will have a costume contest with adult and kids divisions. We will be using the traditional format, so try a route as many times as you like and gain its points if you clean it. Competitors will belay for each other and scorecards will require the initials of your belayer. Attempts will be counted and used for tiebreakers. The recreational division is 5.6 to 5.8 and the intermediate division is 5.9 to 5.11.

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM – Lead Finals
5:30 PM – Final Results and awards!

Early registration through October 17th – Shirt Included – $40
Late registration October 18th – 30th – $50

We will need 12 volunteer judges and 6 volunteer belayers for the lead competition. Volunteers will receive a competition t-shirt and be fed donuts before we start. Save $10 on your Top Rope entry fee by electing to volunteer while registering!

COVID-19 Update

We are sad to say that as of Monday August 9th, 2021 IBEX will be requiring masks to be worn at all times in the building due to Jackson County mandate. We are hopeful that as more people get vaccinated that the mandate will be lifted so that we can get back to returning to normal. We appreciate the respect and patience that our guests and members have shown each other and our staff throughout this pandemic and rely on your continued love and support. Stay safe.
